Dear Members of Arts Alive,

It is with sincere and heartfelt gratitude that I say thank you for bring the music sponsored by Arts Alive into our schools over the last four years. The performances you have offered have helped enlightened, educate, and entertain our students, and the demand for continued Arts Alive sponsored performances is higher than ever.  The partnership that you have built with the St. Thomas/St. John District is so exceptionally valued, and we look forward to continuing this terrific venture that supports continued student exposure to great music.

Thank you,
Michael Harrigan

A key component of Arts Alive’s mission statement is to encourage active participation by our youth in the visual and performing arts. Therefore, in addition to his/her performance at Tillett Gardens, each concert artist also gives an educational concert or workshop at a local school. Transportation of students from other schools to the concert location which allows large numbers of students to gain access to high quality performances.

Student Art Competition

In an effort to encourage our  High School students, we ask them to submit “music oriented” artwork to compete for featured placement on the cover and brochure of the current Arts Alive season.

Dinner with the Artist Contest

Another aspect our our youth outreach is the Dinner with the Artist Essay Contest. It offers an opportunity for one or two music students from the STT/STJ School District to enjoy dinner with the visiting artists by writing a 200-word essay about how they would benefit from being the student selected.

These programs provide budding young artists and writers with opportunities to advance their talent, by simply experiencing the process of entering their work in a competition. The competitions are an incentive for our young people; the stimulate their interests and encourage appreciation for the arts. This unique program is made possible by federal grants and by corporate and private gifts.
