These art and craft festivals are a tradition started in 1981 by Rhoda Tillett. It gives artists a venue, Tillett Gardens, in which to sell their works and gives the community an opportunity to meet the artists. Throughout the weekend, there is live music by local musicians. Students of all ages are highly encouraged to participate and schools have the opportunity to rent a booth at no cost.

Festival Goers, Artists, and Musicians also enjoy the Annual Arts Alive Bake-Off  Challenge, held every year during the spring festival. Island bakers enter their baked goods to be judged on taste, texture, presentation, and creativity.  The winner of the challenge goes home with a $100. grand prize.  The winner is announced at noon, following which slices from the baked goods go on sale for to benefit Arts Alive.  Persons wishing to enter the next Challenge on May 12th should contact the Arts Alive office at 776-8566.
